Toronto to host Australia ahead of Ashes series

Australia and Toronto reveal plans to face each other in October 2020 ahead of Ashes series.

Following the Toronto Wolfpack announcing the signing of Sonny Bill Williams on a two-year-deal, the Australian Kangaroos Head Coach Mal Meninga has revealed that there is already behind the scenes planning taking place for a Toronto Wolfpack verse Australian Kangaroos exhibition match to take place in the 2020 post-season, ahead of the return of the Ashes series in October 2020.

Meninga had this to say to NRL.com:

“When the Kangaroos tour England in 2020 – we will look forward to playing a warm-up game against the Wolfpack as it would create a lot of excitement for the sport.”

The Wolfpack have also had their say, with the club’s commercial director Martin Vickers stating the following to NRL.com:

“Imagine what a boost that would be to our plans in growing the game back in North America and globally.”
