Fox Sports have reported that Gold Coast have made an official approach for St Helens boss Justin Holbrook.
The Titans sacked head coach Garth Brennan on Sunday after winning only 4 from 16 NRL games this season.
Holbrook, whose contract with Saints runs out at the end of the season, is hot property at the moment and has also been linked with Canterbury Bulldogs.
Having failed to sign a new deal at the Totally Wicked Stadium, his availability has not gone unnoticed in Australia after making Saints Super League’s best team.
“Justin Holbrook has had information that he is a preferred candidate, or one of the preferred candidates, for the Titans post,” The Courier-Mail’s Peter Badel told NRL 360 on Fox League.
“They want him to apply for the job, he will apply for the job.
“He’s based in St Helens at the moment, he’s won 61 of 76 games over there … that is impressive.
“He’s got some runs on the board. Don’t be surprised if he is a real shot at this Titans job.”
If appointed by the Titans, it remains to be seen whether Holbrook would leave Saints with immediate effect or see out his contract before departing at the end of the year.
