The Wakefield Trinity star with a point to prove in 2023

The best thing about sport is that it is an ongoing story. Its stars are the characters, the stadiums are the majestic settings that home fairytales and each season acts as a chapter in the most compelling on running drama series man has ever penned.

Every year it seems there are a million stories to light up Super League often driven by the stars of the game.

Whether it is a star player shining as bright as can be, a youngster making a name for himself, a new signing changing the complexion of the league or someone written off in the past who has a point to prove in the new season.

That’s what we’re considering today, those players with a point to prove in 2023 and we’re looking at Wakefield Trinity.

Wakefield have the most to prove in Super League next year in many ways because they have been written off by most and tipped for relegation in 2023.

But amongst their squad there are players who have something to prove including former Warrington Wolves winger Tom Lineham.

A major signing for Wakefield in 2022, he had a difficult first season at Belle Vue and ended up on loan at Featherstone Rovers and somewhat written off.

But back at Wakefield, he looks back to his best in 2023 and full of life. He also has been awarded the number five shirt again ahead of the likes of Lewis Murphy and Lee Kershaw which surprised some fans.

So, he is set to prove that he is deserving of the jersey and that he is truly back to his best and he looks like he will do so in 2023 under Mark Applegarth.
