Thursday night is set to be a historic night in Super League history as last year’s league leaders Catalans Dragons take on newly promoted Toulouse in a French derby.
However, the reigning Man of Steel will not be a part of it. Sam Tomkins limped off the field in Catalans’ defeat to St Helens in the Challenge Cup quarter-finals on Saturday and the extent of his injury has now been confirmed.
The fullback is set for four weeks on the side lines after a small fracture in his fibula was detected by scans this morning.
It means he’ll miss the French derby and Catalans’ Easter Monday clash with Salford. Fortunately for Steve McNamara, Arthur Mourgue is back from injury and was pretty sharp in terms of kicking duties in Tomkins’ absence on Saturday.
He’ll likely figure at fullback for the Dragons over the next month.
