Super League star reveals what next for him after shock retirement decision

It was announced earlier this season that Dan Sarginson had left the Salford Red Devils with immediate effect and had chosen to retire,

The news came as a shock as the club released the following statement:

“Salford Red Devils can confirm that Dan Sarginson has left the club with immediate effect.

“We would like to thank Dan for this time at the club and wish him the best for the future.”

The fullback / centre started his career at London Broncos before joining Wigan Warriors in 2014 and he;ping the club to three consecutive Grand Final appearances starting at fullback as the Warriors beat Warrington Wolves 12-6.

He then joined the Gold Coast Titans in 2017 making six appearances for the NRL side before returning to Wigan helping the Warriors to the Super League title in 2018.

Eventually he joined Salford Red Devils and went on to help the club back to Wembley.

However, he has spent his time at Salford looking to settle into a position with Niall Evalds and Ryan Brierley often occupying the fullback spot whilst the likes of Kallum Watkins, Deon Cross and Tim Lafai have inhabited the centre spots.

Injury also worked against him especially in recent times and he made the decision to retire.

Now he has taken to Instagram to reveal what he wants to do next as he calls on people who are struggling with life to talk to him as he looks to help others in the next stage of his life.

“Hi guys, I just wanted to jump on here and let you all know something I want to do moving forward,” he said.

“It kind of comes reflective on my own life and realising that there were many times I wanted my life to be better and wanting to be a better version of myself and find a lot more peace in life and more comfort and enjoy moments a lot more and didn’t really know where to improve, what questions to ask myself or where to look, didn’t have the tools or education to progress and move forward and find areas of resit and improve and find areas of support.

“This is like a board spectrum of life, it is just from my own experience after being asked certain questions and exposed to alternative information and being able to create a better life for myself so I would love to help anyone with a bit of direction in life.

“Even if you are curious and we just have a conversation, but if this is speaking to you in any way and you are in a similar crossroads in life, jump in my DMs and we will see what we can do and hopefully we can improve life.”
