Super League star chased by a number of clubs

Super League

Clubs like Leeds Rhinos, Wigan Warriors, Hull FC and maybe even Salford Red Devils will be keeping an eye on the halfback market at the moment.

Salford have recently been fending off interest in Brodie Croft from clubs across the planet and thus could have a sneaky eye on the market just in case.

Hull FC have already been interested in Newcastle Knights halfback Adam Clune for next year with Jake Clifford set to join North Queensland Cowboys.

Wigan stand off Cade Cust has moved to nine and is out of contract whilst Blake Austin has seemingly played his last game for Leeds after a move to Castleford Tigers all the while Aidan Sezer is also set to leave.

But one Super League club is set to lose two halfbacks in the shape of Catalans Dragons with L’Independent reporting that the French side will lose both their six and seven.

May joined the Dragons last season after guiding Penrith Panthers to consecutive Grand Finals winning the 2021 decider having lost in 2020.

He went on to play for Samoa in the Rugby League World Cup but was forced off in game one against England with dislocated hip.

However, he has returned from injury in fine form at Catalans wearing the number six jersey and helping the Dragons to the Super League summit.

That said, his form has clearly sparked interest and NRL club Canterbury Bulldogs were interested in May for 2024.

Sky Sports’ Jenna Brooks reported that the Bulldogs had offered him a multi-year deal.

However, Rugby League Live have now reported this deal has collapsed and he is now available to other Super League clubs.

His teammate Mitchell Pearce will be headed to the NRL but Zero Tackle are reporting that a number of clubs are interested in the halfback.

Sydney Roosters was his expected destination after he turned down a move to Wests Tigers earlier this year.

Other clubs such as Canberra Raiders are also in the market for a halfback but his age could mean he could also offer sides a chance to fill the 14 role.

Many clubs would benefit from his experience.
