Super League side unable to name full squad for huge clash

We are headed into Round 17 of the Betfred Super League and it is a vitally important week for all 12 Super League teams.

There are two who collide at opposite ends of the table who need big weeks respectively.

One of those is Wakefield Trinity who go into the game still bottom of the league and to make matters worse the gap is again six points.

That is after Castleford Tigers defeated Warrington Wolves last week but arguably Trinity have a big opportunity to flip things on its head this week because of the injuries their opponents have.

Nonetheless, Wakefield are in a strong position themselves with Luke Gale set for his home debut this week.

It is a very different story for opponents Salford Red Devils. The Red Devils are in a play-off battle but suffered a blow on Sunday when they lost to Wigan Warriors.

That defeat was exacerbated by a new injury concern for the Red Devils. They lost Ryan Brierley to a head knock and he failed his Head Injury Assessment which meant that he was always going to miss this fixture.

They now only have one of their four spine player available with Brodie Croft and Andy Ackers still injured.

This means only Marc Sneyd is available and that there will be plenty of pressure on Chris Atkin.

They are also only able to name a 20-man squad.
