Super League side to keep electric fullback

Super League fullback Tanguy Zenon

Two weeks ago Hull KR confirmed that Tanguy Zenon had joined the club on a two-week loan from Catalans Dragons with immediate effect.

The young, French fullback immediately linked up with the Robins last week for training and was a key part of the club’s lineup for the Challenge Cup Quarter Final against Salford Red Devils.

In fact, he really caught the eye and notched a vital try as the Robins defeated Salford progressing to the semi-finals where they will meet Wigan Warriors.

The Catalonian has made six Super League appearances for the Dragons since debuting against Wigan last year and has impressed when called upon by Steve McNamara.

When the signing was confirmed, Hull KR Head Coach, Willie Peters added: ‘Tanguy (Zenon) is a talented young rugby player who I’ve watched earlier in the year while playing for Catalans. He’s a good runner with the ball and can really play with the ball in hand too.

‘Tanguy is an exciting prospect and will add further strength to our squad, specifically the fullback position.’

When asked about keeping him last week Peters said: “It’s obviously up to Catalans of what they want to do.

“So how it works is, I’m pretty sure it’s a minimum two weeks and then it’s a maximum four weeks.

“So we couldn’t have them any longer than four weeks with different things, at least from my understanding.

“Certainly, we’d like to have Tanguy longer and fill it as well, if Catalans allow that. But at the end of the day, the ball’s in their court in terms of their players and they need to see how they go this weekend in terms of injuries and forms and that type of thing.

“So we’ll have a look at it after the game but we’d certainly like to keep Tanguy.”

This has come to pass with the Robins confirming Zenon will remain at the club for at least two more weeks.
