Super League side suffer heart breaking departures ahead of 2024 season

London Broncos are set for some vital pieces of recruitment as the Super League season looms.

The newly promoted side have made some savvy signings headlined by the arrival of Rhys Kennedy from Hull KR. It is believed that Karl Lawton will follow suit but he won’t be the only one.

It is understood that the Broncos have crucially lost two of their major arrivals last season in the shape of Corey Norman and Dean Whare.

These two will need replacing and Serious About Rugby League understands that London are in the market to make these signings as they hope to have a crack at Super League in 2024.

Many have written them off but they were written off after 25 minutes of the Championship Grand Final against Toulouse Olympique as they were decidedly second best against the French side.

This was the story of the first half with London struggling to make an impact on the game and did not seem up to the pace of the home side. London were going to have to switch on and produce a monumental effort to turn their fortunes around.

Coming out into the second half it was clear that Mike Eccles had given the players something to think about and Broncos were a changed team from the first blow of the whistle. The running of the ball looked more positive and there was more freedom to play their free-flowing style of Rugby. Sure enough their efforts reaped reward as in the 48th minute Bill Leyland had a chance with the ball over the line, but it was not given due to a knock-on.

However, the Broncos carried on pressing and got their well-earned second score of the game due to some independent brilliance from Alex Walker in the 52nd minute. This try appeared to wake the Broncos up with some new found confidence, and the momentum shifted to the English side. In the 59th minute, London struck again, this time with Iliess Macani making his mark on the game, but with some inconsistency off the tee, they still trailed 14-12. Finally, in the 66th minute, Macani got his second try and pushed the Broncos into the lead.
