Super League side forced to make late change

This weekend clubs like Wigan Warriors, Warrington Wolves, Hull KR, Leigh Leopards and others have things to play for as they go into the final game.

The Warriors are battling St Helens and Catalans for the League Leaders’ Shield. Meanwhile, Hull KR and Leigh Leopards are battling for fourth spot and a home play off game in the opening week of the play offs.

But the big battle is between Warrington Wolves and Salford Red Devils for the final play off spot.

The Red Devils have a few problems due to illness but Catalans Dragons are the side who have had to make a late change with Mickael Goudemand replacing Fouad Yaha.

The Red Devils need Warrington to lose on Friday and Jon Wilkin has had his say on the games.

He said of Huddersfield Giants vs Warrington Wolves: “If you know anything about Huddersfield, there’s a player in that team called Jake Connor; and if I was Jake Connor I would be so excited to have a moment.

“He’s had an indifferent year, Huddersfield have been dire at stages during the season, but you wouldn’t back against them putting one on Warrington.

“It’s what have Warrington got left; now whether Paul Vaughan plays or not, they’re going to have to find something just to get them into the playoffs, then once they’re in the playoffs who knows; but I fancy Huddersfield.

“I just think Jake Connor and all of those Huddersfield players, who have had such a disappointing year, who have got the holidays booked in Mexico, the speedos are packed, they’re ready to drink as many mojitos as physically possible, but wait, there’s just one more game and they could knock Warrington out of the play-offs and I think they’ll be excited to do that.

“So for Salford it’s do or die for them and I’m backing Salford. I think there’s a huge, huge incentive for them to be brilliant. I know Steve McNamara and Catalan will be interested in getting that top spot but I think Wigan have got that stitched up and it’s going to be an incredible game.”
