Super League Player of the Month nominees revealed

St Helens' Tommy Makinson, Lewis Dodd and Matt Whitley celebrate after the game at Huddersfield

The nominees for Super League Player of the Month for March have been announced.

Six players have been nominated for the award, all coming from different clubs.

The players have been chosen based on their efforts in the four rounds that came in March.

Below is a full list of the nominees.

Lachlan Miller – Leeds Rhinos

Lachie Miller’s first season in England is going brilliantly.

The Rhinos won three out of their four league games in March, only losing to St Helens, and Miller was a key member of the side for their strong month.

He took plaudits for an excellent tackle on Matty Lees after a break in their loss to Saints, and brought stability from his full-back role, allowing players around him, such as Brodie Croft and Ash Handley, to shine.

His month was rounded off with two tries against Castleford Tigers in Rivals Round, helping his side to a 26-6 victory.

After the game, head coach Rohan Smith said: “I thought his play selection in attack was amazing, he was everywhere the ball was.”

Niall Evalds – Hull KR

A new recruit at Craven Park, Niall Evalds certainly seems to be enjoying life in East Hull.

The 2021 Lance Todd trophy winner’s time at Castleford was ravaged by injuries, but his brilliance was there for all to see.

A fullback at the Tigers, he’s playing on the wing for the Robins now, and impressive from out wide.

He did, however, move into a fullback role for the second half of their loss to Warrington Wolves, a move which improved the side – despite the late defeat – and highlighted the importance of his versatility.

He also won Player of the Match in the 34-10 win over city rivals Hull FC in Rivals Round in a display that was capped off with a try.

Tom Davies – Catalans Dragons

Tom Davies has been linked with a move elsewhere in Super League, and it’s easy to see why there would be plenty of interest in him.

He was integral to the Dragons’ near-perfect March, with a loss to a resurgent Leeds Rhinos the only blemish on their record.

His first try of the month came against Hull FC, and he added to his tally early on against Castleford.

He made it three from three after beating Matty Ashton to score the opener in a victory over Warrington Wolves in Rivals Round.

It’s easy to see why his performances on the wing have landed him a nomination.

Marc Sneyd – Salford Red Devils

He was always going to be nominated, wasn’t he?

He’s four points clear at the top of the Super League Man of Steel rankings already, and his assertive performances from the halves helped the Red Devils to an excellent month of results.

They beat Hull KR, St Helens and Leigh Leopards, but lost to Wigan Warriors.

Sneyd picked up 37 points across the four games, and was star of the show on more than one occasion.

In a game that saw two tries each, his boot was crucial in a 17-10 defeat of Hull KR, and this was the case again as his perfect record from the kicking tee got them over the line in a 24-20 win over St Helens.

Five conversions, a penalty kick and a try followed in Rivals Round against Leigh Leopards.

He’s also kicked 31 out of his last 31.

Matt Dufty – Warrington Wolves

Dufty is second, only behind Sneyd in the Man of Steel standings.

He’s had a great 2024, which saw him earn a new deal at the Halliwell Jones Stadium until the end of the 2026 season.

He scored in a comfortable victory over Castleford on the first of the month, and followed this up with a late game-winner in a thriller against Hull KR.

His spectacular hattrick against London Broncos furthered his try-scoring exploits, and he shone even in defeat to Catalans.

Lewis Dodd – St Helens

The only player from the league leaders to be selected, Lewis Dodd’s quality is known across the country.

He scored twice in Saints’ loss to Salford, a game in which he added a conversion.

He made an excellent try-saving tackle on Harry Newman to help them to victory over Leeds Rhinos.

An excellent kick allowed Tommy Makinson to score in derby-day delight against Wigan Warriors to round off the month.
