Super League injury news: Star set for surgery as one game leads to a huge six injuries

Round 13 of the Betfred Super League in 2023 will go down as one of the best of the season.

It all started at Craven Park as Hull KR battled hard despite their number of injuries against Wigan Warriors and even led 22-14 late in the game despite having Ryan Hall sin binned.

Wigan forced the game to golden point however where a Bevan French break and a Liam Farrell try broke Hull KR hearts.

On Friday, Catalans Dragons leapfrogged Hull KR into third as they beat Wakefield Trinity comfortably. Wakefield are still without new signing Luke Gale.

Elsewhere, Leigh Leopards stunned league leaders Warrington Wolves whilst Huddersfield Giants got back to winning ways against Castleford Tigers.

Meanwhile, another game went to golden point at Headingley as St Helens battled back from 12-4 down against an injury ravaged Leeds side before a Lewis Dodd drop goal settled matters.

On Sunday, Salford ended Hull FC’s winning run in a great game that the Red Devils edged with a 29-22 win.

But how did teams fare in terms of injuries. It’s been a bad week for them especially at Headingley.

It’s well documented that Aidan Sezer, Harry Newman and Morgan Gannon were all forced off in the first half. Tom Holroyd went off in the second half with cramp and was able to return whilst Mikolaj Oledzki hurt his leg in Sione Mata’utia’s yellow card tackle but could be okay for next week. Blake Austin won’t be back next week.

Paul Wellens meanwhile confirmed a big of a knock for Jonny Lomax.

Sadly, there have been two breaks this week. Hull KR’s Ethan Ryan is set for surgery on a broken jaw and Wakefield’s Kelepi Tanginoa has suffered a suspected broken arm.
