Super League Injury News: Star sent to hospital and veteran suffers horrific cut

Leeds Rhinos and Leigh Leopards, Warrington Wolves and Catalans Dragons, Hull FC and Wakefield Trinity met in some huge games this week in the Betfred Super League.

We saw just how big of a week this round of Super League was with Castleford Tigers making a seismic decision on Friday night.

The Tigers chose to part company with coach Andy Last after they were nilled by Huddersfield Giants leaving them bottom of the league ahead of Wakefield’s game with Hull FC.

Elsewhere on Friday night, Warrington Wolves were shown the level they need to reach in the run in to get anywhere near the level of Catalans Dragons as the French side comfortably defeated the Wire away from home.

In the other game on Friday night, Wigan Warriors gained a measure of revenge for the Challenge Cup semi-final defeat against Hull KR by comfortably defeating the an under strength Robins side with Hull KR preparing for Wembley.

On Sunday we were treated to three more games. Leeds Rhinos competed but lacked ideas against Leigh Leopards.

Hull FC continued to show that they can push for the play-offs at this late stage as they battered Wakefield Trinity sending them back to the bottom of the league.

Champions St Helens meanwhile spoilt the party at Salford Red Devils as they celebrated their 150th anniversary. They battled back from 15-2 down to win 18-15.

But who did teams fare on the injury front?

It was a busy night for doctors over at Warrington with Stefan Ratchford and Gil Dudson having head injury assessments whilst Sam Kasiano was also checked out by doctors at the end of the game.

Ratchford and Dudson both failed theirs during the game. Ratchford required 15-20 stiches and was initially allowed on until he started feeling ill leading to his withdrawal with late onset concussion.

Catalans also had a worry with Matt Ikuvalu limping towards the end of the game.

At Castleford, there was a late withdrawal for Huddersfield due to a back spasm from Kevin Naiqama.

That was it for injuries on Friday but on Sunday we saw a blow for Leeds Rhinos with Justin Sangare helped from the field.

But the worst injury of the day came at Hull FC where Samisoni Langi was stretchered off and sent to hospital were a fracture was discovered.
