Super League club exploring transfer market for major signings

David Nofoaluma has 100 NRL tries to his name and is a vital signing for Salford Red Devils

Super League club Salford Red Devils could be on the verge of a new era with their stadium set to be solely owned by the council.

This would secure their future and boost them financially. When asked if their coach was dreaming of big Super League signings, Paul Rowley said:

“That’s like planning to win this week’s national lottery. It’s not, I just crack on. I found out about the stadium, someone texted me and told me, you know, we can’t waste emotional energy on things that are not in our control.

“But, in saying that, we’re aware of it now, and I think it’s been a really positive week for the club in terms of the stadium and the signing of Nofoaluma. It’s been a good week, and then it’s a shame we couldn’t get the result today but the performance was good, and so there’s not too much to be down about at the minute.”

He went on to say they’re still in the market for transfers: “Yeah, we’re looking all the time but as I said it before in middle of January there ain’t a lot knocking about, is there? So, it’s really difficult, even if we had money, to spend that money. So, we’re looking all the time, but, yeah, it’s just difficult.”

After defeat against Leeds Rhinos in their Super League opener, Paul Rowley looked ahead to their game against Castleford Tigers in a tussle between two teams predicted to struggle:

“Again, we predicted 11th, so I think Castleford have predicted 10th. So it’s set up, isn’t it? And Cas will be targeting us and us them, and it’s like anything else. I think the Super League has got so much to be positive about at the minute. I think every team is really trying to prove people wrong or live up to expectations. There’s pressure on the teams at the top. Rowan’s under pressure apparently here if you listen to the Sky commentary and stuff. I think all teams have done a great job and I think Rohan’s done a great job here.

“I think he’s built himself a really good side and like I said before I think the game was played in a good manner and I respect our lead to go back to the business and this is all I’m bothered about today, we’ll pick the bones out of this, we’ll try and polish up some of the things we weren’t too good at in readiness for Castleford who will be hungry as ever, they always are, and you know, another coach who’s new to the next but we’ll we’ll approach every obstacle with you know mutual respect and prepare hard.”
