Super League Attendances: Three amazing crowds as record broken

Leigh Sports Village

This weekend’s Super League action started on Thursday night on Sky Sports in the Battle of the Borough.

It was the perfect precursor to next weeks Rivals Round as Leigh Leopards hosted Wigan Warriors in what felt like a major event.

The Warriors came away with the win thanks to a Bevan French masterclass.

Speaking of a masterclass, that is exactly what we saw from Jordan Abdull on Friday night as he kicked Leeds Rhinos to death on Friday night in the rain as Hull KR made it four wins from the opening seven games.

Elsewhere on Friday night, St Helens added to Wakefield Trinity’s misery. For the fourth time this season Wakefield failed to register a point as they lost 38-0.

On Saturday, Hull FC’s losing run extended to five games as they were blown away in the first half by league leaders Warrington Wolves 34-6.

Catalans Dragons though kept the pressure up on the Wolves at the top winning late against Castleford Tigers thanks to a Mike McMeeken try against his former club who produced a valiant effort and were unlucky to lose.

On Sunday, the action ended in the sun as a brace of Owen Trout tries led Huddersfield Giants to a win over Salford Red Devils.

But how did the weekend do in terms of attendances?

Hull KR have remained committed to not sharing their attendances whilst Leigh Leopards have a lot to shout about after they recorded a record attendance beating out the previous record of 9,012.

Two games registered over 10,000 fans at St Helens and Warrington whilst Catalans had a crowd of 8,000.
