St Helens star reportedly set to agree mega deal ahead of 2024

St Helens star Lewis Dodd has been linked with a move from Super League to the Dragons

Plenty of NRL clubs are interested in St Helens star Lewis Dodd.

Dodd emerged on the scene in 2020 but really made his name in 2021. The halfback started to feature throughout that campaign and began to fill the gap left by the injured Theo Fages throughout the season.

In fact, for a period he and fellow youngster Jack Welsby were forced to start in the halves with the club without Jonny Lomax as well.

When it came to the Grand Final, Dodd started at seven alongside Lomax as they won the Grand Final and in 2022 he was awarded the number seven shirt ahead of the new season.

However, after a great start to the season, he was struck down by injury and missed the rest of the season.

However, his return to the side came down under against Penrith Panthers as he nailed the drop goal to win the World Club Challenge against the NRL Champions.

This moment placed him on the NRL radar with Manly Sea Eagles monitoring the situation alongside other clubs.

But now according to League Scene, St Helens are looking to secure his future with a mega deal to secure his future alongside Jack Welsby. They are working on offering him a deal to keep him at the club long term.

Now the Saints can look ahead to the new season. Ahead of the 2024 Betfred Super League season, St Helens will face Salford Red Devils at the Totally Wicked Stadium on Sunday, 4th February 2024.

The match is the second Pre-Season fixture confirmed for Paul Wellens’ First Team following the announcement of the Red V’s game against dual-registration partners Swinton Lions – read more details on that match by clicking here.

Both St.Helens and Salford will be getting their 2024 seasons underway less than a fortnight after this match, so the game will be vital as the clubs prepare for the new campaign.

The Saints and the Red Devils met twice in 2023, with Wellens’ men victorious in both home and away games.
Both Pre-Season matches against Salford & Swinton could offer Saints supporters their first chances to see new signings Daryl Clark and Matt Whitley in action.

Ticketing details for this fixture will be made available in due course. The Club will issue an update as soon as tickets are available for supporters of both teams.
