There has been some big news stories coming out of Hull KR in recent weeks.
Following the shock departure of head coach Tony Smith, the news that Willie Peters will be taking over for 2023 and beyond has settled the nerves at Craven Park.
But, in and amongst all this, the future of veteran hooker Matt Parcell also came up, with Hull Live linking the former Leeds Rhinos man with a move to the Dolphins in the NRL.
However, live on Sky Sports last night, pundit Jenna Brooks revealed that Parcell is ‘close’ to agreeing a new deal with the Robins which would be excellent news for all concerned at the club.
Parcell was a member of the Ipswich Jets team which made history by becoming the first side in the club’s history to win the premiership after beating Townsville in the 2015 Intrust Super Cup grand final.
The wily number nine played six games for the Broncos in that year and then another 15 for Manly Sea Eagles in 2016 before a move to Leeds Rhinos came about ahead of the 2017 season.
Parcell won the Super League Grand Final in his first season with the Rhinos, but left on-loan for Hull KR in 2020 and then permanently at the end of 2020.
