Six of the biggest Super League stars other clubs can now approach

As of today, Super League clubs can now approach off contract players from other teams.

The recruitment window opens every year opens on May 1st and sees Super League clubs capable of approaching players who are approaching the end of their current deals with a view of bringing them in for 2023.

There are some huge names who have yet to agree deals for 2023 that other Super League clubs will be sniffing around and we’ve identified six of the biggest.

Bevan French
Perhaps the biggest name available is Bevan French. Still a Super League star and one of the most dangerous attacking players in the league, many might assume he’ll stay at Wigan. However, the revelation of Jai Field at fullback – who was perhaps prioritised with a new deal already heading his way – has seen him move to the wing. If he wants to be the main man again as a fullback, he may be tempted by a move away and the biggest Super League clubs and NRL clubs will be keeping tabs on his current situation.

Stefan Ratchford
A Super League legend, Stefan Ratchford has pretty much done it all and is a Harry Sunderland Award winner. Versatile and capable of playing every position in the backs, he would be a savvy signing from any team in the league. However, having celebrated a testimonial at Warrington this year, surely he’ll stay at the club.

Blake Austin
From a current Warrington man to a former Wolf, Blake Austin endured a difficult start to life at Leeds. However, he’s turned a corner recently and was central to their win over Hull KR. Having signed a one-year deal with the club, his future is up in the air. Leeds need to make a decision if he’s the man alongside Aidan Sezer to take them forward, equally Austin will need to decide whether Headingley is the place for him but recent performances suggest it might be.

Jake Trueman
Jake Trueman is yet to sign a new deal at Castleford and Hull FC alongside other Super League clubs and Melbourne Storm have a reported interest. He would be massive signing for any club at the moment and would be one to lead them forward.

Luke Gale
Former Man of Steel Luke Gale only signed a one-year deal at Hull FC but has had an up and down start to life at the MKM due to a number of suspensions. Still a great organiser and a very good seven, he would be key to any team’s attack should he make a move. That’s if Hull want to bring in Trueman as his replacement and let Gale go.

Konrad Hurrell
Another former Rhino who only signed a one year deal after leaving the club, Hurrell has settled in nicely at St Helens and has played a lot of minutes. Still a dangerous attacking weapon, he would be a solid signing for any club but has been linked with a move back to the NRL.
