Scott Taylor labels huge Super League star as the “easiest player to tackle”

Scott Taylor has played with some of the best players in Super League over the last decade.

One of those is Jake Connor who currently plies his trade at Huddersfield Giants.

The versatile Connor, who can play in the halves, fullback or in the centres, played alongside Taylor at Hull FC.

Former teammates, Taylor labelled Connor the easiest player in the league to tackle when asked on The Bench podcast.

“I’ll say Jake Connor, I’ll get back into an ex-teammate,” he said.

“He plays in a dinner suit and he’s probably the slowest back in Super League.”

This came as he claimed Konrad Hurrell is the hardest player to tackle:

“For me it would be someone like Konrad Hurrell and the reason I say that is because he’s big, he’s strong but he’s short.

“I’m 6’3” so obviously, even if I dip, I’ve still got to dip a bit more to try and get a good shot on him. So sometimes you find yourself just clinging on a bit or just trying to get hold of him because he’s that strong, quick and low to the ground. He’s tough.

“I’d rather have a big Al running at me. The thing is with big Al, similar height to me, I can drop a bit and cut him.

“Someone like Konrad Hurrell, it’s hard for me, it’s hard for me to get hold of as he’s wide and awkward.

“I used to joke about in training years ago with Stanley Gene, who was a assistant coach, you know, another one, short, compact and just awkward. Give me a big fella any day.”

He also explained how Wigan Warriors star Bevan French and Warrington Wolves fullback Matt Dufty are also tough to tackle like the St Helens centre:

“I think French is one of them, a bit like Dufty at Warrington where you have just got to present them a one line every time.

“Your kick chase and if you’re one line every time, it’s a hell of a lot easier.

“But as soon as you give people like French a bit of space, you’re a bit uneven on your kick chase, someone’s not quite doing their job, then it’s very, very hard work. You just can’t get near them, it’s too quick.”
