Salford and bizarrely Leeds Rhinos fans unimpressed by Brodie Croft news

Salford Red Devils' Brodie Croft and Marc Sneyd celebrate.

Leigh Leopards have been linked with a stunning move for Salford Red Devils star Brodie Croft and this news pertaining to the future around the Man of Steel was aired on Sky Sports.

This news was broken by Jenna Brooks to the surprise of the rugby league world.

Of course Salford fans weren’t impressed but nor were Leeds Rhinos fans who felt they should be the ones leading the race for Croft.

One Leeds fan said:

“If we can’t attract Brodie Croft and Leigh can.”

Adding to this, another said:

“Big questions need to be asked if we don’t bring in a player of his calibre and a position we badly need to strengthen.”

Meanwhile another Leeds fan noted:

“They will be an uproar at Headingley if this happens.”

One neutral fan added:

“Hilarious if Brodie Croft ends up at Leigh. Crazy.”

However, questions were raised by some:

“Would love to know how that works financially given Brodie Croft has 6 years left on his contract? Some serious money gonna have to be given to Salford as compensation.”

One Salford fan was not impressed:

“SKYPIE are poor. Clarke, BAZTEZ and Bill are that far out of the current game its embarrassing. Lets do Lomax to Salford tonight and feed them that.”

If Leigh do make the signing it would be a very impressive one.

As they look to kick on, Leigh look set for huge signings in general as Adrian Lam said on YouTube:

“I think we’ve done reasonably well. Still going, as every club is, and I think when the times right those players will be announced. I’m just really happy and grateful for the current squad, we’ve had a lot of changes this year, I think we’ve got the smallest squad in the Super League.

“I think we’ve changed something like 16 players that have been new to the club this year and we’ll continue to rotate those players and get the right ones in until we’re in a position where we’re the top two continuously.

“The club’s in a very great position to be able to negotiate and talk to other players. It’s different to what we were in last year where we still haven’t won the championship and trying to negotiate contracts and recruits for the Super League; but it’s been a little bit easier in this process, and it’s ongoing on a week-to-week basis.”

However, there has been talk that Leigh could lose Ben Reynolds to a shock move to Featherstone Rovers.

This would explain the interest in Croft. Lam said on this:

“Yeah, I think it’s been ongoing here with Ben and obviously clubs outside of Leigh have come in and negotiated with him. We’re continuing to talk to him about that and no doubt some sort of decision will be made either way in the next couple of weeks.

“It’s ongoing. It’s in the hands of Chris Chester and the management of Ben Reynolds. Ben’s done some great things for us this year, and him as a player at this club over the last two years have been phenomenal.

“He certainly has played a massive part in who we’ve become in the last two years and he’s an important part of our squad, especially with the finals coming up too. This needs to get sorted either way so that we can get some clarity into his head.”
