Rohan Smith reveals his reaction to red card call

Leeds Rhinos

Leeds Rhinos stunned Wigan Warriors to defeat them 40-18 despite going a man down in the first half and trailing 14-0 at one stage.

But there is no lack of belief in the Rhinos according to coach Rohan Smith which might explain the insane turn around.

“There is no lack of belief and that has just been confirmed more than anything,” he said on Sky Sports after the game.

He also revealed what he was like at halftime as he spoke to his 12 man side:

“I was pretty calm, we talked about generating a bit more momentum with our carries and the need to keep working for each other.”

Smith also gave his overall assessment of where Leeds are at after six wins and six defeats this season:

“Confident but not content with the inconsistencies in our performance. Sometimes we are way off. Not comfortable but confident in the ability in the group.

“It is unrealistic to think we will play red hot all the time what we have struggled with is finding big enough chunks to.”

He also revealed that he didn’t overreact to Zane Tetevano’s red card in the first half.

He was also keen to point out that he hadn’t seen all the angles of the incident:

“I don’t ride the highs to much and I don’t let the lows get to me, like when Zane got sent off, I haven’t seen all the angles by the way, but I didn’t overreact.”
