Rohan Smith confirms substantial blow to Leeds Rhinos

Leeds Rhinos head coach Rohan Smith

It was confirmed today that Aidan Sezer would be absent for the Leeds Rhinos as they take on Salford Red Devils on Friday night hoping to pick up a sixth win of the season and right the wrongs of their defeat to Leigh Leopards.

Rohan Smith gave the prognosis on the injury as he spoke to the press.

He said: “He suffered a really deep dead leg, contusion, really deep in his quad to a point where he was in a bad way at halftime and couldn’t really move.

“It is going to be a few week injury. Sometimes those bleeds become really deep and they become quite serious injuries.”

So how will the Rhinos replace him?

Against Hull FC, Sezer went off at halftime and Leeds looked good with Richie Myler at seven and Ash Handley at fullback.

But Jack Sinfield is an option Smith is considering: “We have been training in a few different ways. Sinny has run in the halves, we’ve also looked at Richie Myler in the halves and Ash Handley at fullback.”

Handley has been open about wanting to play fullback.

But Smith has been open about being willing to give Sinfield a chance when the time is right:

“Yeah when the time is right. He did really well in pre-season.”
