RL Rumours: Brenko Lee linked with Super League move, Adrian Lam hints at new signings and Ben Reynolds update

Below is a round-up of all the biggest rumours and gossip from the world of rugby league over the past week.

Brenko Lee is a wanted man

Dolphins centre Brenko Lee has already been linked with a move to Super League this year, with reports surfacing that Wigan Warriors were seeking his signature; however the Mole from the Wide World of Sports in Australia has reported that Huddersfield Giants are interested in the 27 year old. The Tongan international signed for the Dolphins this season ahead of their inaugural season in the NRL; but if reports are to be believed he could be on his way to the UK.

Adrian Lam hints at new arrivals

Speaking to the media ahead of his side’s clash with St Helens this weekend, Leigh Leopards Head Coach Adrian Lam provided an update on the club’s recruitment for the 2024 season. He said: “I think we’ve done reasonably well. Still going, as every club is, and I think when the times right those players will be announced.” It looks like there will be some new additions to the Leopards squad for next season, but who they are remains to be seen.

Ben Reynolds update

Speaking of the Leopards, there has been talk surrounding the future of Leigh halfback Ben Reynolds this week. In his pre-match press conference today, Adrian Lam addressed these links: “I think it’s been ongoing here with Ben,” he said.  “Clubs outside of Leigh have come in and negotiated with him. We’re continuing to talk to him about that and no doubt some sort of decision will be made either way in the next couple of weeks. It’s in the hands of Chris Chester and the management of Ben Reynolds. Ben’s done some great things for us this year, and him as a player at this club over the last two years have been phenomenal.” Reynolds has been an ever present in Adrian Lam’s side this season, but will he be there in 2024?

Morgan Harper linked with Warrington Wolves

Sam Burgess has already brought in one player from down under in the form of PNG international Roderick Tai; however they could be set for another. Reports surfacing from Zero Tackle suggest the Wire are now setting their sights on Manly Sea Eagles centre Morgan Harper. The Wolves initially wanted to bring in Melbourne Storm centre Justin Olam, but it now appears they are targeting Harper instead. Harper has been out of favour this season, only featuring eight times for Manly, but at only 24 he still has his best years ahead of him.

Tariq Sims on his way to Super League?

Melbourne Storm player Tariq Sims could be on the verge of moving to the Super League, with reports from Zero Tackle suggesting his management are looking for opportunities on our shores. The forward currently has no deal in place to keep him at the Storm for the 2024 NRL season, so an exit looks likely. He has only played 12 games this season for the Storm, however with his experience he would be a great addition to a Super League side.
