Radford expresses disapointment at defeat

Lee Radford thought his side had done enough to win the game against Catalans Dragons, despite a torrid build-up on game day itself.

Forward Josh Jones pulled out the morning of the game due to illness, and Adam Swift picked up with a hamstring injury in the warm-up.

Jake Connor also had to leave the field after picking up a bang to the knee.

However, the inescapable truth is that it was a game that Hull should have won. They led 28-10 with less than 20 minutes left to play.

Speaking after the Dragons claimed a last ditch 34-29 victory at the KCOM Stadium, the Hull coach said: “I think we did enough to win the game twice.

“Obviously it’s difficult to lose a game, and heart-breaking to lose a game in that manner, on the last play of the game as well.”

After losing Swift, Radford turned to young winger Kieran Buchanan and was full of praise for the youngster at full time.

He said: “I think Kieran Buchanan came in and did an unbelievable job, to be called on at the last minute like that.

“I think he’s been 18th man for the last three games and not played, so to come in and take his chance like he did, I thought was great.”
