Premier Sports will televise major Challenge Cup game

A through the camera perspective of the AJ Bell Stadium

Premier Sports will continue their coverage of the Betfred Challenge Cup with the Fifth Round clash between Championship heavyweights Bradford Bulls and Leigh Centurions on Monday March 14.

The game will kick off at 745pm, in the regular Monday Night Rugby League slot which has become so popular on Premier Sports this season.

Bradford Bulls are the most recent Challenge Cup winners in the Fifth Round, with memories still vivid of their 2003 triumph when they beat their fierce local rivals Leeds Rhinos 22-20 at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.

They will be underdogs against a Leigh team who made impressive progress in the Fourth Round against Widnes Vikings this Monday – and who beat Bradford convincingly at the Leigh Sports Village in a Betfred Championship fixture last month.

But this time the Bulls will have home advantage at Odsal to aid their head coach John Kear, a renowned Challenge Cup specialist who has plotted two famous Final victories for Hull FC in Cardiff in 2005 and for Sheffield Eagles against Wigan at Wembley in 1998.

Leigh’s head coach Adrian Lam also has fond Challenge Cup memories, having played for Wigan in their Final victory over St Helens at Murrayfield in 2002 – and the Leigh club also have a proud history on the Challenge Cup, winning it twice, in 1921 and in 1971 at Wembley, when their player-coach Alex Murphy was man of the match.

Watch out for further details of coverage and kick-off times for the remaining four ties in the Fifth Round – on BBC Sport, The Sportsman and the RFL’s Our League web and app – later today.
