Predicting how the play-offs WILL pan out: Two thrashings, two shocks and a perfect Grand Final

The Super League play offs are upon us with Wigan Warriors, Warrington Wolves, Hull KR, Leigh Leopards and Catalans Dragons all vying to dethrone St Helens as the Super League Champions after nearly 1450 days.

With the play offs kicking off this evening, we are taking a look at how the play-off will pan out from tonight until Old Trafford on October 14th.

Week One

Hull KR 30-10 Leigh Leopards

We’re predicting a comfortable win for the Robins tonight. Leigh have been in up and down form since their Wembley win whilst after their defeat in the Cup Final, the Robins have been in red hot form and scoring tries for fun. They now have home advantage and we think they will plough through the Leopards into the semi-finals.

St Helens 24-8 Warrington Wolves

Like the other fixture, St Helens should get the job done comfortably. They have all the momentum compared to the Warrington Wolves. They haven’t lost a play off game since 2018 against the Wolves at the Totally Wicked Stadium. They will be no such shock this time.

Week Two

Catalans Dragons 18-19 St Helens

If we get this semi-final it could be one of the best in Super League history. Two teams very equally matched with added motivation with retiring stars and bags of experience, they will both be difficult to defeat. They also have history against each other – the 2021 Grand Final for instance. Too close to call with the Champions trying to topple Catalans’ home advantage. They could very well do so building momentum as Catalans’ dwindles somewhat. St Helens have experience and have Alex Walmsley back.

Wigan Warriors 20-10 Hull KR

In 2022, Wigan Warriors stumbled at this stage but there is a ruthlessness to the Warriors this year and they should claim a win over the Robins who will be difficult to put away. The Warriors should have too much and should return to Old Trafford for the first time since 2018 and their first Grand Final appearance since 2020.

Grand Final

Wigan Warriors 6-10 St Helens

This would be an excellent Grand Final and like the semi-final is almost too tough to call. In the end I’ve backed experience and know how and tipped St Helens to make it five in a row.
