Phil Clarke says Warrington Wolves have been “lucky” this season

Last week Warrington Wolves suffered their first defeat of the season as they lost 13-6 to Wigan Warriors.

After the game, Phil Clarke had no sympathy for the Wolves saying they had been lucky at times this season.

He said: “I think they were lucky to win in France and there is no doubt that they were outplayed tonight. There were some decision that went against them, you might have talked about play the ball speed.

“Wigan were the better side so that is two weeks in a row where arguably they have not been the best team.”

After that defeat, Warrington lost to St Helens this week and Phil Clarke again said that the Wolves were lucky that they didn’t start the season against Saints and Wigan.

“I think Warrington are lucky they didn’t play Wigan and St Helens in the first two rounds of the season,” Clarke said before adding, “All their fans thought they were going to a Grand Final and now they are one more defeat away from a meltdown.”

He did praise St Helens as well for their youth development:

“The other thing I learnt from last night is that St Helens are still the best at youth development. Players like Sam Royale and George Delaney were playing at a top level.”

Well clarky, your getting better, we know you’ll always shout for Wigan. But you actually said nice things about saints, stand back in amazement. Now that’s enough about being nice, get back to normal
