Paul Rowley reveals late withdrawal from Leeds Rhinos game as he confirms another injury blow

Salford have done it tough in terms of injuries recently even naming 18-man squads for games but always seemed to hang in there and produce terrific performances.

Today was no different with Salford struck by some more injury blows but battling hard against an in form Leeds side. Despite trailing 18-0 early Salford still made a game of it.

In fact they only trailed 18-8 at the break but that’s when things went wrong for them on the injury front as they lost two players for the rest of the game with Dan Sarginson replaced by Ryan Brierley and not reappearing despite a good first half.

After the game, Rowley gave an update on the fullback and another casualty before revealing there could be more injuries as well: “Yeah it’s a hamstring injury. We’re not sure how bad that is, we don’t think it’s on the worse end.

“Sam Luckley failed a HIA. He’ll miss next week.

“We have a few busted bodies in there and we’ll have to have to check everyone out. If Sarginson has damaged his hamstring he’s unlikely to feature next week but we didn’t take any risks with it so hopefully it’ll be the lower end of the scale.”

Making matters worse today, recent signing Tyler Dupree was a late withdrawal and was set to play today against his former club.

On this, Rowley revealed: “He pulled out of training yesterday, he’d passed all of his tests was set to play but at the end of the team run he decided it didn’t feel right.

“A bit of late disruption which is a unfortunate because I think he’d have thrived out there because there were plenty of scoring opportunities.”
