NRL star reportedly set to agree multi-year deal with Super League club

Right now the talk is all about signings.

The rumour mill is in full swing at the minute and this week we have seen plenty of discussion and news.

Wigan Warriors have signed former Leeds Rhinos and Huddersfield Giants hooker Kruise Leeming.

They have also signed Sam Walters from the Rhinos and Tiaki Chan from Catalans Dragons.

The Warriors are also keen on Catalans star Adam Keighran whilst his teammate Mickael Goudemand is headed to Leeds in 2024.

The Rhinos pivoted to the French international after interest in another target led nowhere.

There has been talk that one NRL forward could be Super League bound and at one stage he was believed to be Headingley bound.

That man is Lachlan Fitzgibbon of the Newcastle Knights.

The second-row has played over 100 games for the Knights scoring 30 tries since his debut in 2015.

According to the Newcastle Herald, the backrower is open to a move to Super League in 2024 and beyond.

The reason behind his potential move has been explained by the Mole of Wide World of Sports.

“Lachlan has been a Knight since 2015 and wants to stay,” a member of Fitzgibbon’s management team told the Mole.

“But like a lot of clubs, the Knights have salary cap issues and that complicates things.

“We will sit down with him soon and decide what his next move is.”

Over the weekend the Newcastle Herald reported that Warrington Wolves are now “favourites” to land him beating out the Rhinos to his signature.

The publication has also stated that the forward could sign a multi year deal with the Wolves so would be a long term signing for the Wire.
