New twist in the future of Jacob Miller

Wakefield chairman Michael Carter has rubbished reports that halfback Jacob Miller is set to leave and join Wigan Warriors.

29-year-old Miller has been linked with a move to the DW Stadium but Carter is having none of it.

“Jacob Miller is contracted to Wakefield for 2022,” Carter told the Manchester Evening News.

“I can’t comment on that (Wigan’s interest), but we’ve never made a comment and Jacob is the captain of this club and he has been excelling under Willie. He was outstanding on Friday (against Hull FC) and played in a dinner jacket – why would I want to lose Jacob Miller?”

Despite this tirade, outgoing Warriors head coach Adrian Lam remained coy about the whole deal when asked last week.

“Our club is always linked with players and this is no different,” Lam said.

“If there’s anything to add as time goes on we’ll say something but there’s been no movement on my side or the club’s side regarding that.”

Miller still remains under contract at Wakefield which would mean any transfer would require a fee, but with the likes of Jackson Hastings and Oliver Gildart coming off contract, the Warriors may well have spare cash to spend.
