Morgan Escare has left Salford Red Devils after two seasons, the Super League club have confirmed.
The French international had a mixed spell at the AJ Bell Stadium, which involved loan spells at Wakefield Trinity and Barrow Raiders.
Escare joined Salford from Wigan Warriors ahead of the 2021 season and has gone on to play 20 games for the Red Devils.
The 31-year-old former Catalans Dragons fullback will return to France with recently relegated Toulouse Olympique seeming his most likely destination at this stage.
Escare has most recently been on international duty with France in the Rugby League World Cup, but he was unable to prevent his side from an early exit after a heavy defeat to Samoa.
Since making his debut for Catalans in 2013, Escare has accumulated almost 200 Super League appearances over the last decade having burst on to the scene as a 20-year-old.
His career has often promised to go to the next level, with his spell at Wigan seeing him part of the team that won the 2017 World Club Challenge against Cronulla Sharks.
The following year saw Wigan win the Super League title, with Escare used from the interchange bench as the Warriors beat Warrington Wolves 12-4 at Old Trafford.
Escare’s next move will likely be a step down, having fallen out of favour under Paul Rowley at Salford, but there are no doubts he still has the quality to cut it at the highest level.
