Massive boost for Huddersfield Giants as star man returns to play against former club

One of Huddersfield’s strengths in 2022 so far has been the depth of their squads.

Every time the Giants lose a key man, someone else steps up. Jack Cogger, Olly Russell, Oliver Wilson and Sam Hewitt are all examples of this as are backs Ash Golding and Jake Wardle before his departure with Toby King coming in.

Even now without one of their huge signings in Chris Hill, the Giants keep rolling on. They also came within minutes of winning the Challenge Cup even with their third and fourth choice halfbacks playing that game and shining.

One of the reasons Russell and Cogger started that final was the absence of Theo Fages but the Giants have today announced that he’s back in time to take on former club Salford Red Devils at the Magic Weekend.

Fages made his name at Salford before joining St Helens where we won two Grand Finals and a Challenge Cup becoming an integral cog in one of Super League’s best ever teams.

Then at the end of last season, after his 2021 campaign was cut short by injury, he joined the Giants hoping to spark them to success and has done so and now back from injury he’s set to pick up his form once more.

The game should be a great contest between two great teams with Salford in red hot form. It could be a throwback to their classic Magic Weekend encounter from 2012.

The rest of the Huddersfield squad is as follows:

1. Will Pryce
2. Jermaine McGillvary
5. Ashton Golding
6. Tui Lolohea
7. Theo fages
9. Danny Levi
10. Michael Lawrence
11. Josh Jones
12. Chris McQueen
13. Luke Yates
14. Matty English
15. Joe Greenwood
17. Owen Trout
20. Oliver Wilson
21. Leroy Cudjoe
23. Olly Russell
25. Innes Senior
26. Nathan Mason
27. Jack Ashworth
29. Sam Hewitt
37. Toby King
