Luke Gale to be offered surprise coaching role

He’s only just moved to the MKM Stadium, but Luke Gale could be set for a coaching role at Hull FC when he decides to hang up his boots.

That’s according to his agent, Craig Harrison of Show Me The Money UK, who revealed on The Full Eighty Minutes podcast that security following rugby league playing life was important in getting the deal over the line.

Gale only had one year left on his Leeds Rhinos deal, but a one-year contract at Hull with the option of more further down the line set the wheels in motion

“They’ve made it clear that there is some coaching capacity at Hull when he’s finished and that was important from a friend and agent’s perspective,” Harrison said.

“We’ve left it open to pretty much sit together after a year and the discuss what’s ahead.”

For Gale, yesterday marked the beginning of pre-season with his new club in what has been a whirlwind of a week.

Meeting his new teammates and coaching staff, as well as experiencing his new surroundings, didn’t seem to faze the number seven as he looks to guide Hull to a better placed finish than eighth following a disappointing end to the 2021 Super League season.
