Leigh Leopards set to make multiple signings ahead of 2024

Leigh Leopards are set to confirm a major transfer ahead of the 2024 Super League season.

The Leopards are reportedly set to sign star fullback Tristan Sailor from the Brisbane Broncos ahead of the new season.

He will take the fullback spot whilst Gareth O’Brien will take on the role left by Salford Red Devils bound Joe Mellor whilst Matt Moylan replaces Ben Reynolds at six.

This is reportedly set to lead to the release of Ben Nakubuwai ahead of the new Super League season.

Many expect this to be the completion of their business but this is not necessarily true. The Leopards have shown an eagerness to add depth to their squad with the club approaching Derrell Olpherts as per reports.

The Leopards are likely to sign a British prop to replace Nakubuwai or a British outside back to add further depth.

Leigh Leopards are doing a lot to remain strong on and off the field. They have also confirm that Leigh Market will continue their long-running kit partnership with the club on the home and away shorts for the 2024 season.

Leopards COO Steve Kerr said: “I am delighted that Leigh Market again features on the club kit for the forthcoming season. The club’s partnership with Leigh Market is an important one and is highly valued.

“Our retail outlet is situated in the heart of Leigh Market and many of our supporters are regulars to what is a vital community hub. The success of the Leopards has created a real buzz around the Market as many of the stallholders and customers are avid supporters.

“Last season the enthusiasm and excitement around the Market in the build-up to Wembley was huge and I know there’s similar anticipation ahead of the new season. It’s great to see just how many of the traders are loyal and passionate Leigh supporters. They love the club and want us to succeed, and that feeling is mutual.

“I’d invite all our supporters to support Leigh Market and the traders. It is a great facility with an extensive range of goods and services at great value for money. I’d also like to pass on our thanks to the Leigh Market Traders Association, Nick Hutchinson, the Town Centre Officer, and Wigan Council for their continuing support.”

Leader of Wigan Council, Councillor David Molyneux MBE said: “We were delighted with the success that Leigh Leopards enjoyed in 2023 and are extremely proud that the three major Rugby League trophies now reside within the borough.

“In announcing that Leigh Market will again be one of the kit sponsors for Leigh Leopards in the 2024 season we’re glad that this successful partnership has continued to thrive.

“Leigh Market and Leigh Leopards are cornerstones of the local community, and it is a pleasure to be working together again to bring further success to the town.

“The scenes for the open top bus parade through Astley, Tyldesley, Atherton and into Leigh, and the stage presentation at Leigh Town Hall Square the day after Wembley will live long in the memory. The success that Leigh Leopards have enjoyed has given people within the borough great joy and pride and long may that success continue.”
