Leigh Centurions owner Derek Beaumont believes shock Super League side could win Grand Final

Leigh Centurions owner Derek Beaumont is well known for his outspoken views on social media.

The owner of AB Sundecks Ltd – which sponsors the 1895 Cup – Beaumont is a marmite character, yet he puts his money where his mouth is on every occasion.

Now, the Leigh man is suggesting that Salford Red Devils could win the Super League Grand Final after an incredible victory away at the Castleford Tigers yesterday afternoon.

Paul Rowley’s men racked up a quite astonishing 50-10 win over their play-off rivals Castleford who simply couldn’t live with the pace and power of the men from the AJ Bell Stadium.

And, following that performance, Beaumont took to Twitter to voice his opinion, paying tribute to the main men at the helm in Ian Blease and Paul King.

“What a great away win by @SalfordDevils in a big game to cementing the play offs! Fantastic run of form really pleased for the club and fans and in particular @Ianblease1 and Paul King whom I know work hard for the club and will be buzzing. On this form could there be another GF,” Beaumont wrote.

It would be a sensational story if Salford were to return to the Grand Final, three seasons after last appearing there in 2019 under Ian Watson.

Of course, that day they were second best to St Helens – who isn’t nowadays? – but the fact that they were actually able to fight their way to Old Trafford proves that the club has what it takes on and off the field to get there again.

And, with Paul Rowley, they have one of the most impressive head coaches in the game and Beaumont, who once employed Rowley at the Leigh Sports Village, has clearly recognised that.
