“I think…” – Leeds Rhinos boss makes desperate plea after yellow cards

Leeds Rhinos picked up their second win of the season against Catalans Dragons in Round Three of the Betfred Super League.

The win came on the back of some brilliant defence from the Rhinos which Head Coach Rohan Smith highlighted after the game.

He said: “Yeah, we certainly tackled well today which we knew we’re going to be playing against a team that’s rugged by DNA and they’ve they’ve played a certain way for a period of time and you know, they’re a quality quality team, you know.

“I thought we at least matched him with the physical nature of the game today Which which gave us a chance to to find some points.”

It was certainly a terrific win for the Rhinos and sees them join a flurry of teams on four points.

Leeds Rhinos boss addresses sin bins

This came as the Leeds Rhinos Head Coach made a plea about the yellow cards shown in Super League after four cards where shown in the game.

“I think they were all accidents today. Personally, I don’t want to see any of them sin-binned. I want to see 13 on 13. Talk about welfare and duty of care to the players. I thought they were all unfortunate. Sims is trying to save a try.

“I think he gets done on that. There’s restructuring and rethinking about the framework and what not. But I want to see 13 on 13 unless it’s really, the Sinbin for a period of time in our game, maybe I’m speaking more about the NRL than Super League, but it was for professional fouls or intentional holding down or taking someone out to save a try, that type of stuff.

“Where I think what we underestimate is how important or how much of a turn of the game a penalty can be on its own.”

Leeds will be sweating on suspensions again this week with Justin Sangare facing a ban after his yellow card for a high tackle.

Meanwhile, James Bentley could face action after he was let off by Chris Kendall during the game much to the dismay of Sam Tomkins on Sky Sports.
