Leeds provide important update for fans ahead of Catalans clash

Leeds Rhinos have issued an important safety update to supporters ahead of their clash against Catalans Dragons on Sunday.

Many Leeds fans, and at times away supporters though this is less likely given the opposition this weekend, access the ground via the bridge on St Michaels Lane.

However, roadworks are on going on the bridge which caused a problem for fans leaving the stadium after their first home game against Hull FC with a very small passageway for supporters to get through.

After this, the bridge was closed completely, both to pedestrians and vehicles, for their clash against Wakefield Trinity but it will be re-opened for pedestrians for Saturday’s 12:30 kick off against the Dragons live on Channel 4.

It is important to note that the bridge will remain closed for vehicles but fans will be able to cross it and the footpath will be extended to enable safe passing.

In a statement on social media the Rhinos said:

“The railway bridge on St Michaels Lane continues to remain closed for vehicles however will be open for pedestrians this Saturday for our game against Catalans Dragons. The footpath for pedestrians will be extended to ensure safe passing on the bridge.”

The Rhinos are set to be without Ash Handley, Morgan Gannon and Mikolak Oledzki still whilst James Bentley has picked up a one match ban for a late hit on Jacob Miller against Castleford Tigers last week.

Kruise Leeming will not feature after requesting a release from the club.
