Lam reveals injury worries ahead of Round One

Adrian Lam of Leigh Leopards wears a suit and tie.

Wigan Warriors Head Coach Adrian Lam has confirmed two injury doubts before the start of the new season.

Oliver Gildart has a leg injury, and will be out of their pre-season friendly against Salford Red Devils on Sunday, whilst new signing Jai Field has a back strain, and could miss their round one clash against Leigh Centurions.

Lam said: “Gildart has an an leg injury, which will take one to two weeks, and Jai Field has strained his back, which could take two to three weeks. Those are the only ones (injuries).”

However, there was positive news on winger Liam Marshall, who is recovering from an ACL injury he picked up against Castleford Tigers in August last year.

Lam confirmed he was stepping up his recovery, and hopes he will be back on the field by May, in the best case scenario.

He added: “Liam Marshall is picking up in his training, and he should hopefully be back by May.”
