Lam hails important win

Wigan Warriors Head Coach Adrian Lam has said his side’s win over Catalans Dragons in the south of France was really important.

That win made sure Wigan kept pace with St Helens and Warrington Wolves, with a 72-per-cent win percentage at the top of the table.

Catalans were top, but have slid down to fifth.

He said: “It was really important. Not just because of what happened last week, but with what happened with the table and how it has turned around.

“We needed to respond and we needed to win. It was a massive week for us, because it would have put them further away from us.

“I’m really pleased for the group. We arrived at the DW Stadium at 5.45am to catch a 6am bus. It’s an early start, it will be difficult for any team coming over. We will get back to our houses at about 2-3am.

“It’s been a long day. But we will recover well and be ready to go again.”
