With Lachlan Coote moving on at the end of the year, there have been rumours that St Helens would be looking for a new number one.
However, head coach Kristian Woolf has dismissed any speculation, highlighting that the fullback mantle will be given to Jack Welsby from next season.
“We’re not going to sign another fullback, we’re going to give Jack Welsby first crack at that to make the position his own,” Woolf said.
“We’ve all seen his talent for the last 12 months and he’s played almost every position except front row and he’s got a real knack of making it work and also have a real big influence on the team.”
Welsby has played nearly 50 games for St Helens so far.
