Kevin Sinfield reportedly makes decision on his future

Kevin Sinfield

Leeds Rhinos legend Kevin Sinfield has been making headlines away from the rugby world with far more important things lately.

The seven time Super League winner has been making headlines for raising another £1 million in the fight against Motor Neurone Disease and to raise money for the underfunded disease in the name of Rob Burrow.

But Sinfield has a day job and for a while that has been working with England Rugby Union as Defence Coach but it was reported after the World Cup that he would be leaving that role.

There were rumours that he could return to Super League with Warrington Wolves and Sam Burgess linked with the Leeds legend.

However, rugby union journalist John Evely has reported that Sinfield has been involved with Bath Rugby Union lately suggesting he is set to stay in the 15 man game whether with England or Bath. A Super League return looks unlikely.

Ahead of his latest 7 in 7 in 7 challenge, Sinfield revealed support from the England players:

“Oh, they’re brilliant. They’re a great bunch of boys. I’ve loved working with them. The friendships and relationships I’ve built, especially through sort of a World Cup campaign, they have been brilliant.

“And the number of messages I’ve got, they’re all keen to understand what we’re doing. And they’re all supporting their own way. Some will join us at the start or at the finish. Some will support through social media and some will support through text messages, which are great as well because they inspire and keep you going. But I would say they’re a brilliant group of lads and I thoroughly enjoyed working with them.”

He also spoke about the impact of the challenges:

“Since I finished playing and I entered the real world, if you like, running helps me fix things, helps me clear my head, helps me to be a better person. So, yeah, it’s an important part of who I am now. When I can’t run for whatever reason, then I don’t think I’m great company. So, hopefully I can keep running for a long time.

“As I’ve said before I’m in this now and whilst having my knees I’ll keep going I’ll keep trying to do my bit. And even then, when my knees won’t work like they should, we’ll find different ways of trying to raise money and awareness and try and change the way people feel about this community because we’ve been a part of something that’s been pretty powerful over the last couple of years and we’re massively humbled by it.”
