Kevin Proctor’s Super League career likely over following Match Review Panel ruling

Former Wakefield Trinity star Kevin Proctor

Wakefield Trinity forward Kevin Proctor time in Super League looks set to end following the latest ruling from the Match Review Panel, which will rule him out of Wakefield’s last game of the season against Hull KR.

The former New Zealand International has been issued a one match ban for grade C dangerous contact following his side’s defeat to Leigh Leopards on Friday night.

Proctor initially received a yellow card for the incident, just moments after his introduction to the game on Friday night; which saw the Trin’s relegation to the Championship confirmed.

Since arriving in West Yorkshire, Proctor has featured 21 times for the club and scored one try; however it is likely he has now played his last game for the club.

Elsewhere for Wakefield, Proctor’s college in the pack Jai Whitbread will also be unavailable for selection this week as he too picked up a one game ban for grade C dangerous contact.

This ban looks set to end Whitbread’s time with Wakefield Trinity, as several Super League clubs have already begun circling in to secure his signature for the 2024 season.

In his two year spell at Belle Vue, the Australian has racked up 39 appearances and scored four tries.

Elsewhere, the Match Review Panel issued nine charges in total this week. These are:

Paul Vaughan (Warrington Wolves) – Grade E Unnecessary contact – Refer to Tribunal
Thomas Mikaele (Warrington Wolves) – Grade B High Tackle – £250 Fine
Connor Wrench (Warrington Wolves) – Grade A Dangerous Contact – Not Applicable
