Jon Wilkin says Super League star “had a shocker”

The rain last night made it a tough one for any winger or fullback but especially so for the likes of Luke Hooley and Derrell Olpherts under pressure from Jordan Abdull.

Abdull’s kicking game was mesmeric and caused endless problems for the two.

A perfect example would be Hull KR’s first try which was scored by Louis Senior after Olpherts was unable to deal with Abdull’s high kick.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Jon Wells said of the the moment:

“It is disappointing. I think you have to commit to that as a winger because if you don’t deal with it you know it is going to keep coming at you.”

Jon Wilkin added: “He doesn’t get anywhere near it. Olpherts not even able to get close.”

Wilkin would later go on to say he had a shocker. He took into account the weather but said that the weather shouldn’t dissolve the Rhinos of responsibility.

He said: “Derrell Olpherts has had a shocker on the wing here tonight.

“It is a tough place to be. We blamed the weather in the first half but I don’t think that was the case in the second half.”

All of this came after Sky Sports commentator Stuart Pyke suggested Olpherts needed to be taken off to get him out of the firing line.
