Jake Trueman’s agent addresses rumours of a move away from Castleford

It’s the rugby league off-season; that basically means that it’s that time of the year again when rumours are rife.

And, one rumour that keeps on rearing its head is that of Castleford Tigers’ Jake Trueman seemingly leaving the Jungle when his contract runs out at the end of the 2022 season.

The mercurial halfback has been linked with the likes of Leeds Rhinos in the past, whilst it was speculation of a move to Hull FC that provided the latest development.

However, his agent Craig Harrison – also known as Show Me The Money UK – has labelled such rumours as ‘disrespectful’ to Castleford.

“Everyone said he’s going to Leeds, Warrington and Melbourne and then I’ve had someone saying he’s going to Hull,” Harrison said on The Full Eighty Minutes podcast.

“When you’re at that level he is, if there wasn’t every club in the country going after him then there would be something wrong, but it’s still disrespectful to talk about anything other than Castleford.

“He loves it at Cas, he’s a great kid and he’s not someone who bangs down doors asking for moves.”

Harrison also revealed that he and Trueman have spoken to Managing Director at the Tigers, Mark Grattan, about his future.

“Leave Truey alone; let him get on with his job at Cas that’s all I’ll say.

“He’s got a year on his contract left at Cas and we’ll pick that up when the time comes, but I’ve spoken to Mark (Grattan) a few times and everything is good.

“If he stays at Cas he does and if he leaves he doesn’t owe anything that lad.

“I’ve got a lot of time for him, he’s a man of few words but he’s a great character.

“He’s come to Cas and he’s been amazing for them but he’s just a fantastic person.”

Trueman has just lately recovered from back surgery with the problem spoiling his 2021 Super League year, but looks certain to play a pivotal role for new Tigers boss Lee Radford in the upcoming season.
