Ian Watson has his say on Joe Wardle’s link with Hull FC

Huddersfield head coach Ian Watson has had his say on speculation linking Joe Wardle with a move away from the club.

Wardle, 29, is off-contract at current club Huddersfield Giants and has rarely featured for Watson’s side in 2021.

With over 200 career appearances under his belt in both Super League and the NRL as well as six Scotland caps, Wardle would bring a vast amount of experience to the MKM Stadium.

And, Watson fuelled the fire further in his pre-match press conference.

“I’ve sen exactly the same as you guys (regarding Hull FC links),” Watson said.

“Joe has had a lot of injuries over the last couple of years which has frustrated him and it has been frustrating for a coach this year.

“When you see him train and play he is a high quality player, but at Huddersfield we need a settled and a durable side going forward.

“We would have loved Joe to have been involved in that going forward.

“I’m not surprised Hull are looking at him, he’s a great fella and he’s now nearly fully fit.”

Huddersfield take on Leigh Centurions in their last game of the 2021 Super League season on Sunday afternoon.
