Hull KR star set to replace NRL halfback after £3.1 million move

Former Hull KR star Brad Schneider has been linked with replacing Penrith Panthers star Jarome Luai.

The stand-off has now won three Grand Finals with Penrith in the best halfback partnership in the world at present.

However, despite this, Luai is set to leave the club to join Wests Tigers to try and turn them around after their recent troubles.

He has reportedly agreed a £3.1 million deal ($6 million) to join the Tigers leaving the club in need of a halfback ahead of the new season.

The most likely replacement for Luai is former Hull KR halfback Brad Schneider with Zero Tackle highlighting him as the number one replacement despite the transfer targets on the market at present.

Zero Tackle explained: “Schneider has joined the Panthers after a brief stint in England, and might be the most realistic option of this group to join Nathan Cleary in the halves come the start of the 2025 campaign.

“He will play second fiddle during 2024, but that gives him 12 months to learn the club, the systems, and what it takes to be a success.

“Schneider impressed during his time for the Canberra Raiders, and even more so in England. He will only continue to improve as he develops, and it seems a very solid fit.

“He is probably more of a number seven than a six, which will have to be weighed up, but he can certainly play both, and if he spends 12 months gearing himself towards taking over Luai’s spot, then anything is possible on his potential.”

The likes of Adam Doueihi and Danine Laurie have also been linked with the club’s number six shirt moving into the 2025 season. Fortunately for the club, they have time on their side to find the ideal replacement for Luai.

But will it be Schneider who takes on the shirt.
