Is Hull KR star set to leave after major transfer coup?

According to reports for a while stemming from the Hull Daily Mail, Hull KR have been trying to sign Catalans Dragons winger Tom Davies as they are also set to change their wingers with Tom Johnstone set to leave the club as well.

Now Hull KR have seemingly gotten their man with Sky Sports’ Jenna Brooks reporting that the winger is set to sign for the Robins in 2024 despite L’Independent reporting interest from St Helens.

Hull KR have a lot of sorting out to do with regards with wingers. Ryan Hall is out of contract at the end of the year and could retire if he doesn’t extend.

Meanwhile, Burgess is also on a one year deal with the Robins leaving the door open for a move for Tom Davies in 2025 or someone like Tom Johnstone.

Willie Peters has a lot to consider with regards to wingers and it seems they will make a big signing for 2024.

What next for Ryan Hall at Hull KR?

Ryan Hall made his Super League debut back in 2007 for the Leeds Rhinos but his debut was overshadowed by Jordan Tansey’s controversial Magic Weekend try against Bradford Bulls.

Hall would be in and out of the side for the rest of 2007 and 2008 scoring in the 2008 Grand Final win against St Helens prior to cementing himself as the club’s left winger in 2009.

In 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012 he would score 30 tries or more a season as Leeds won three Grand Finals, a League Leaders’ Shield and a World Club Challenge.

He would also be named the world’s best winger after his performances with England. In 2014, he won the Lance Todd Trophy for his two mesmeric tries against Castleford Tigers as Leeds won the Challenge Cup.

He would help Leeds win two more Grand Finals before agreeing to join Sydney Roosters in the NRL at the end of 2018. He would struggle down under after suffering an acl injury in his final game for Leeds Rhinos.

Hall returned to Super League with Hull KR in 2021 and has been scoring tries for fun since and is closing in on Danny McGuire’s all time Super League record which was also recorded at Leeds Rhinos and Hull KR.

But with Hull KR bringing in Davies and having Joe Burgess in the squad, it begs the question: is retirement round the corner for Ryan Hall?

At the end of the day, Ryan Hall has probably earnt the right to decide for himself what he wants to do next.

If he wants to keep on playing, the Robins will surely keep him even if Davies comes in. If not, they will likely wish him well.
