Hull KR announce “historic” partnership

Hull KR have announced what they call a “historic” partnership with the University of Hull who are now a platinum partner for the 2023 season.

The University of Hull is proud of its role in the city and the region where it has been inspiring futures, broadening horizons and pushing boundaries for over 90 years.

With a strategy focused on two of the most important challenges of this generation: environmental sustainability and social justice, the University is tackling global challenges and addressing regional needs, focusing on inequalities, climate change, social justice, health and heritage. With a pledge to become carbon neutral in 2027, the University is focused on securing a strong, sustainable future for everyone.

At its core, the University promotes inclusivity, this is reflected in the diversity of its student body and the range of partnership work to promote access and success in local communities.

The University will feature on the left sleeve of the club’s Scholarship, Academy, Reserves, Women’s, LDRL, PDRL and First Team jerseys next season. Encapsulating inclusivity within rugby league, the University’s logo will feature on the kits of all playing levels.

Additionally, the University of Hull has become the principal sponsor of the club’s newest side, Hull KR Netball, and will feature on their kits and digital media presence.

Jeremy Hartley, Chief Finance Officer at the University of Hull, said: ‘We are incredibly proud of the role we as a University play in the city and the region and we are delighted to announce this new partnership.

‘Our shared vision is to enable opportunities through Rugby League for talent to develop both as players and students, in an inclusive and safe space whilst fostering success and achievement.

“Inclusivity is at the heart of everything we do, which is reflected in the diversity of our student body as well as the range of partnership work we do to promote access and success in local communities.

‘It was incredibly important for us, therefore, that our support spanned each of the nine sides under the Hull KR umbrella. Rugby League has a rich history in our city and we are proud to be partnering the club and supporting the teams’ success.’

Hull KR Chief Executive Paul Lakin is proud to see a partner support the club at all levels and said ‘Hull University are our first commercial partner to position their brand across all nine of our sides, which now spans an incredible 283 players.

‘The University of Hull are another anchor institution in the City, like ourselves, so it’s always pleasing to link up with good local partners, who are looking to grow their reach towards East Hull and beyond via the national platforms we offer. We look forward to a long and meaningful partnership, with many of our visions around sustainability and inclusivity, already aligned.’
