Hull FC and Castleford Tigers make big decisions on bans handed to stars

Liam Watts

Following the latest round of Betfred Super League fixtures, the Match Review Panel have issued the following sanctions.

Zane Tetevano (Leeds) – Grade D Strikes with Hand, Arm or Shoulder – Refer to Tribunal
Harry Newman (Leeds) – Grade C Aggressive Behaviour towards Match Official – 2 Match Penalty Notice
Bodene Thompson (Leeds) – Grade B Trips – 2 Match Penalty Notice
Elijah Taylor (Salford) – Grade B Strikes with Knee – 1 Match Penalty Notice
Miteli Vulikjapani (Hull FC)- Grace C Dangerous Contact – 2 Match Penalty Notice
Liam Watts (Castleford) – Grade A Dangerous Contact – 1 Match Penalty Notice

Whilst Leeds man Tetevano received a huge ban, Newman’s ban was increased on a frivolous appeal.

However, Salford Red Devils, Hull FC and Castleford Tigers have decided not to appeal Elijah Taylor’s, Mitieli Vulikijapani’s and Liam Watts’ bans.

It means that Taylor will miss Salford’s game against Warrington Wolves on Sunday afternoon and Watts will miss the visit of Huddersfield Giants to the Jungle on Friday night which will be shown live on Sky Sports.

Vulikijapani will also miss Hull’s fixture against Leeds Rhinos as well as the highly-anticipated Hull derby with KR at the Magic Weekend.

It’s a bitter blow for the Black and Whites who have already had to deal with numerous injuries to the likes of Carlos Tuimavave and Adam Swift along the backline.
