Hugely famous Grammy award winning singer seemingly supports Betfred Championship side

There is never a dull day in rugby league.

Especially not today with what Keighley Cougars have shared on Twitter.

They shared a video captioned “The newest Cougars fan is…” and the video seemingly displays nine-time Grammy award winning singer and the hugely famous Rihanna in a Keighley Cougars shirt and a Keighley banner dancing with the banner to the music of one of her more famous songs.

Now as a rugby league journalist, I am not going to claim that I have the knowledge to prove that it is indeed Rihanna and not a look alike.

If it is indeed the popstar it is a major story for the newly promoted Championship club who are proving that they can generate the headlines rugby league needs with some huge signings for 2023 such as Ben Crooks from Hull KR.

They wre unbeaten in 2022 and are set to make a splash in the Championship in 2023 and could even make the play-offs.

Meanwhile, they are also the only club to vote against the changes suggested by IMG to rugby league as they look to re-imagine the sport as they stand against the idea that big clubs like St Helens, Wigan Warriors and Leeds Rhinos should be immune from relegation if granted a Grade A licence.

Now they seem to be the only club in the sport to be supported by a Grammy Award winning singer in the shape of Rihanna.

One fan claims to have proven it is an impersonater:

Either way it has gotten fans talking about the Cougars.
